Princess mary, much to the dismay of the danish people is down to earth and not extravagant. apart from her not wanting to make a massive fuss with everything im not sure that the danish royal family has even quite that much momey to throw around. its a small country and a small monarchy.
The Royal Danish Air Force operates three Challenger CL-604 for VIP transport, primarily that of the government and The Danish Royal Family. This is a 19 seat aircraft with sufficient range to get from Copenhagen to Washington DC (or Chicago) but it would have to refuel to get to Australia. If Princess Mary was travelling with her two children only, it would have been a terrific expense.
