Now what is the relevance of this? It has no bearing in the least on the actual science of global warming or even on whether sacrifices should be imposed on the “little people.” Although if you live in a first world country you likely contribute more than your fair share to global warming and will be less likely to personally suffer as a result of global warming, so including yourself as a “little person” is a bit inaccurate.

Should politicians personally do what they can to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? Of course. If they don’t, does this mean they are not allowed to work for public policies to curb such emissions? Of course not. If we demand that our leaders be perfect before they are allowed to set policy, policies will never be set and the world will be worse off.

I hereby offer my land in Floyd County, Virginia as a substitute location for the conference and will guarantee that parking will be no problem if the delegates will all come on horse back and park their rides in my lower field. We can have the conference in the pristine hollow beside the creek where the wild rhododendrons will be a good backdrop for photo opportunities. The only thing that I cannot control is the snow that might fall here in December, but since the delegates all believe in global warming that should be no problem for them. They can always ignore it like they do the medieval warming period so Al Gore’s hockey stick graph will look as he wishes. They should all bring their hockey sticks. It will be winter in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and maybe I can suggest something that can do with their sticks.
